For Opening Day in 2022, I dedicated one of my Saturday Evening Post Considering History columns to the many histories of early baseball, the rise of the major leagues, the longstanding and enduring presence of racist mascots, and more that can be remembered through the story of the Boston (turned Milwaukee, turned Atlanta) Braves.
